Gold Cup Final: USA 2-1 Jamaica - Morris the hero with 88th min winner!
The United States exacted revenge on Jamaica with a 2-1 win to lift the Gold Cup on Wednesday night.
The USMNT were heavily favoured going into the contest although the Reggae Boyz had beaten them in the semi-finals of the competition two years ago.
But there was to be no upset this time as a late 88th minute strike from Jordan Morris gave the Americans the deserved victory on a night when Jamaica lost star player Andre Blake midway through the first half.
Blake picked up a hand injury while making a vital save on Kellyn Acosta and his replacement, Dwayne Miller, could do nothing about Jozy Altidore's stunning free-kick opener for the US just before the break.
The Jamaicans rallied back through Je-Vaugh Watson at a corner-kick in the second half - their first shot at goal - but Bruce Arena's men eventually capitalised on their dominance with a fine finish from Morris two minutes from time.
