Barcelona 4-2 Valencia: Messi brace ends Los Che resistance!

Lionel Messi scored late in the first half and early in the second half to lead Barcelona to a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Valencia at Camp Nou in La Liga on Sunday. The visitors had silenced the home crowd when Eliaquim Mangala directed a header into the bottom corner on 29 minutes but Luis Suarez would level just six minutes later for the hosts after Valencia fell asleep at Neymar throw-in. Mangala then received his marching orders on 44 minutes for pulling back Suarez when the striker was through on goal, leaving Messi to convert from the spot. However, Valencia refused to give in despite the numerical disadvantage and immediately equalised through loan signing Munir El Haddadi who didn't celebrate his goal against his parent club. Barca eventually got the much needed win, which keeps them two points behind leaders Real Madrid, with Messi's near post finish in the 52nd minute followed by a late Andre Gomes tap-in after excellent work down the left by Neymar.
