Bayern 5-1 Arsenal: Thiago brace, Wenger's boys humiliated!


Bayern Munich ensured Arsene Wenger's European failures reached a new low as the Bundesliga champions thumped the Premier League side 5-1 in Germany in Wednesday's round of 16 first leg. Arjen Robben opened the scoring with his trademark left-foot curler but a scrappy goal from Alexis Sanchez gave the visitors false hope of a result. Robert Lewandowski then headed Bayern into the lead eight minutes after the interval to kick-start a crazy 10-minute spell for the Gunners where they conceded another two more times (Thiago got both) before Thomas Muller capped the nightmare result with a fifth German goal in the 88th minute.
